World Series of Poker Has a New Champion
The World Series of Poker Texas Hold‘em Main Event tournament that started the poker boom now has a new champion with a shiny, fancy gold bracelet and a cool $10million. The 27-year-old Swedish poker star, Martin Jacobson became the first Swede to win the World Series main event in its 45 years of existence and is the new 2014 WSOP Main Event Champion.
The final hand that won him the main event was three tens, which put him over runner-up Felix Stephensen of Norway, who was all-in and had a pair of nines.
Back in 2003, when Chris Moneymaker won the first televised main event of the World Series of Poker, that’s when everyone in America decided that they wanted to be a poker player as well. The casinos adopted hold’em as their main feature and the rest is history.
Another great thing about the poker excitement is everyone is now familiar with poker and wants to be a pro like they see on television. A great feature of poker is that you can set up a casino party anywhere, even at your house, and get your friends, family and co-workers involved. The fun of playing poker can last for hours.
What could be greater than having fun with your friend’s playing poker? Having a casino party setup where you have a cool looking table, cards and dealer giving you the personal casino ambiance.
